Hope for Peace Women Initiative (HopeWin) has recognized and celebrated women and girls who are championing the advancement of transformative technology and digital education.
This was revealed in a statement made available to the press by the Social Project Officer, Kifayah Thanni to commemorate this year’s annual International Women’s Day; March 8th, themed 2023: DigitALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality.
“With this theme, bringing women and other marginalized groups into technology will result in more creative solutions and greater potential for innovations that meet women’s needs and promote gender equality”, she said.
Kifayah noted further that as a result of the realization in 2020 that we can’t live offline alone, “Connectivity and technology have undoubtedly become the integral parts of most people’s daily lives. As governments around the globe imposed lockdowns and movement restrictions to curb COVID-19 infections, businesses and organizations have more swiftly than ever adapted to reinvent themselves and survive. To do so, technology was fundamental.”
Therefore, to strengthen and achieve gender equality on digital innovation and technology, the organization advised that, “A more inclusive economic system should be adopted by women, equal social contract should be established and changing the gender norms and utilizing the can-do spirit in the women folks positively” should be adopted.
“We implore women around the globe to positively bring the potential in them because innovation, technological change, and education in the digital age brings about achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls”, she advised.
