NYAN cleans Oshodi Isolo Market on IYD 2023

The National Youth Assembly of Nigeria, NYAN has cleaned up Oshodi Isolo Market on the International Youth Day (IYD) 2023 as a way to commemorate the day.

 

The Speaker of NYAN Lagos State, Rt. Hon (Amb) Adeola Aderibigbe, while giving his speech on the theme: “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World” mentioned that they chose Oshodi Isolo Market to educate and sensitize the residents as well as clean the environment for them.

 

“We also believe this will have effect on climate change, when the roads are littered and dirt coming into the drainage system, it causes floored in the environment, also those who do bush burning which emits smokes and carbon monoxide that goes up to the ozone layers and affect it.”

 

“We think this sensitization who change the mindset and orientation of the resident and market men and women to be conscious of their environment by not littering the floor and avoid flooding. We are talking to people collectively and individually as we are cleaning the environment for them. So yes, I am convinced they would yield positively to the message of the sensitization.”

 

He further advised other youth organizations to do their best to, “involve in international programs like this by continually sensitizing the people, to inform and let people know of their civic duty and commitment to the society.”

 

Rt. Hon (Amb) Emmanuel Udomoh Benjamin, the National Deputy Speaker of NYAN appreciated the Lagos Speaker and his team and advised other NYAN chapters to, “take cue from what Lagos NYAN is doing.”

 

He went on to appreciate the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Executive Chairman, Oshodi Isolo Local Government, Otunbe Kehinde Adeola Oloyede for their support to the IYD 2023.

 

The Supervisory Councilor for Environment, Oshodi local Government, Hon. Olufemi Ajayi has appreciated NYAN Lagos for, “choosing Oshodi Local Government as a place to commemorate the IYD 2023 and the support from her members.”

 

“NYAN can attest to the work we do as we have sensitised the market women to not litter with their used disposable as it has repercussions on the environment”, he concluded.
