Girl-Child Day: Inner Wheel District 912 Gives Free NECO Forms to Girls in Lagos

In an effort to ensure the girl child attains education, the Inner Wheel District 912, Nigeria has presented scholarship awards to secondary school girls in Lagos state.

The association at this year’s international day of the girl child celebration at Isolo, Lagos announced free National Examinations Council (NECO) forms awards for seven students who participated in a debate competition organised by the district to celebrate the day.

Announcing the free forms, the district chairman, Mrs Olushola Asipa, said the district will pay for the girls’ senior secondary school certificate examination organised by the National Examinations Council.

The announcement was greeted with jubilation and excitement from the students who said they weren’t even expecting such generosity from the organisation.

Speaking on the importance of the girl child to the Inner Wheel District 912, Asipa said, the girls remain the bedrock of the society, hence they need proper care and attention if a prosperous society is desired.

“We decided to give the girls the scholarship awards as a result of our desire to ensure they have access to education and are properly cared for because they remain the bedrock of the society.”

The seven girls came from different schools within Isolo and Mushin axis of Lagos state.

Names of schools and students that received free NECO examination forms; Isolo senior secondary school, Aderogba Adenike; Holy saviour’s college, Adesanwo Elizabeth; Ansarud-ud-deen college, Isolo, Alimi Baliqis; Ansarud-ud-deen College, Okota, Dauda Aisha; Matori grammar school, Imoh Chidera; Isolo comprehensive senior high school, Oyeniyi Boluwatife and Metropolitan College, Minomokpo Glory.

One of the beneficiaries of the scholarship, Chidera Favour Imoh of Matori Senior Grammar School, thanked the Inner Wheel District 912 for the gesture and prayed for the continued progression of the association.
