There was pandemonium in Yaba axis of Lagos in the early hours of Wednesday as residents woke to see the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) office in the area on fire.
The fire outbreak, it was learnt, was caused by power surge in one of the offices and spread rapidly.
The fire has, however, been put out by a team of Lagos state fire services operatives who quickly rushed to the scene.
It was put out around 8 am as the situation has been put under control. Evacuation operation still ongoing.
According to reports, several people were trapped in the building as the fire raged.
The fire had broken out at the middle of the high-rise building as those trapped in the building were seen frantically calling for help.
