The executive chairman of Oshodi-Isolo local government, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede has frowned at reported extortion and high waste bill by the duo of Excellence and Tunap waste managers operating in the local government.
The council residents have earlier complained the extortion and over 300% increment in their waste bill by the two companies to the executive chairman.
The council chairman while condemning the act appealed to residents of the council to remain calm as the council as trudged into the case promising that there will be a breakthrough on the issue.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting at the Marriage Registry Hall of the local government on Wednesday, Otunba Oloyede berated the owners of the two waste companies over the extortion of the people of the local government.
The council boss also frowns at the failure of the two companies to attend the stakeholders meeting summoned by the local government. He stressed that the bills being served in the council area still the highest he has seen in the state.
Otunba Oloyede, having appealed to the residents and leadership of the Community Development Committee (CDC) to give the companies another opportunity to rub minds before the final decision will be taken, asked the secretary to the local government to send letter of invitation to them for a meeting next week Tuesday.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman of the Oshodi-Isolo Community Development Committee (CDC) Alhaji R.A. Olawoyin informed the gathering that the CDC had met with the duo of EXCELLENCE and TUNAP WASTE on the lingering impasse, yet they have remained recalcitrant, even when the issue of the forthcoming elections was raised.
Alhaji Olawoyin stated that the CDC had been appealing to residents on the issue, but he stated that the two are not willing and ready to shift grounds. He claimed that the bills being served residents by the two remains the highest in the state.
Corroborating his words the supervisory councilor for Environment, Hon Femi Ajayi said that the bills are the highest as he compares with his colleagues in the other local governments of the state.
