It was a battle of the intellects at the grand finale of the Osolo Day Achievers celebration in Isolo, a Lagos suburb as youths from within the royalty territory slug it in a quiz and spelling bee competition.
At the end of the heated quiz and spelling competition, three persons emerged as winners in each category.
Osolo Day is an annual celebration for royal families in Isolo Kingdom. This year’s edition has been made unique with the introduction of an academic contest initiated and organised by Excel Tutors, an organ of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, Isolo Area Council.
Over 200 who contested for both the Quiz and Spelling Bee competitions went through a preliminary stage where 35 students qualified for the grand finale.
Mustopha Toheeb, Adewunmi Samson and Mustopha Karima in the Quiz contest emerged as Overall Winner, First Runner Up and Second Runner up respectively, while the Spelling Bee produced Akubor Peace, Akhere Choice and Olubayo Ifeoluwa as the overall winner, first runner up and second runner up respectively.
Showers of praise were rained on the organisers by community leaders, spectators and well-wishers as the winners were awarded Standing Fan, Gas Cooker, School Bags, Gold Medals and other gifts.
Adekoya Raheem, the President of the organisers, expressed delight at the collaboration and success of the programme.
He said the aim of organising the contest was to ignite the undying passion for education in young ones of the community.
Adekoya also expressed appreciation to companies, institutions and personnel that contributed massively to the success of the event.
