The price of petrol has surged by 8.8 per cent, N185 per litre from N170 per litre by the Federal Government.
Petrol is expected to sell in Lagos at N185 per litre, N195 per litre in South East, FCT, and North West zones, N190 in Southwest, South South and North Central. While it would be sold at N200 per litre in North East.
The federal government, in a notice to fuel marketers, pointed out that the new price should take effect immediately.
The new price may however be unrealistic as most filling stations sell at a far higher price than the new directive.
A source in Abule Egba informed Citizen News Hub about buying petrol at a filling station for N250 per litre today while he added that some sell for 220, 270.
